New Year is over and coming up Monlam Festival

Justify FullDear Dharma Friends,

We have finished the six days of Tibetan New Year yesterday with not that much celebration as usual due to the incident as i had mentioned earlier. The Annual Prayer Festival (monlam) will start with a gap of couple of day between the Losar and Monlam, its one of the most popular, celebrated and well known dharmic event either in Tibet or in India amongst Geluk pa sect which has various sessions in single day followed by the great procession of Maitreya and Monlam Tordup, the session including: Kam Tsok, debate session of geshe candidates, teaching etc. It was established in 1409 by the great Lama Tsong Kha Pa, the founder of Geluk Tradition. The main purpose of the Great Prayer Festival is to pray for the long life of all the holy Gurus of all traditions, for the survival and spreading of the Dharma in the minds of all sentient beings, and for world peace. The communal prayers, offered with strong faith and devotion, help to overcome obstacles to peace and generate conducive conditions for everyone to live in harmony.

From all of these , Chunga Chopa (butter lamp festival) is the most attractive one that take place on the 15th (tibetan) where display gigantic hand made butter sculpture with consisting of many lama, yedam, protectors, goddess, auspicious sings, rituals and angels, the exhibition of the massive butter sculpture to the devotees starts only after a proper consecration puja by the Venerable geshe (Phd) and revered rinpoches of the monastery.

Hopefully, I will try my best to send you daily updates and photos of these sessions, if you wishes to receive these kinds, kindly write me your email address for better exchange of information.

With much love,

Jampa Tharchin
